do you rednecks know how to catch carp?

I'll probably catch hell for this but - I live near a flats area that is FULL of big carp. I've never really wanted to catch em before but now that I'm staying home a lot with the baby, what the hell. They're big and the water is shallow so it will probably be fun.

The water is only 1' - 2' deep with some vegetation growing in it. I can see them tailing everywhere. I tried bread balls covering the entire hook but the fish get spooked real easy in the shallow water and I haven't had a bite yet.

Any professional carp rednecks out there that can help a brother out?

Alternately you can use one of the old time crank phones - drop the electrodes in the water and crank. Just hope your waders are dry...

I am no redneck by any means but whenever i saw carp in the river we could always snag them with a can of 30 cent corn on a small hook. Tons of fun.

You can use a small egg sinker with the line fed through to a small hook. Chum the area with a couple fistfuls of corn. Then bait a hook and send her OUT!!!

Leave it in freespool, watch the line, when carps starts taking, count for a few seconds and ram her home.

Haven't been carp fishing in 2 years but last time i went we lost a 25 lb. fish right at the bank near me using the same method.

We used to catch em up at Belews w/ canned korn. Smallest hook possible.
