    Delaware bay drummin report

I have been looking forward to this trip for months, we scheduled it around the new moon since the full moon this month was a touch early for our liking....looks like we made the right choice. The reports that trickled in all last week were not looking so great....2-5 fish per trip and tons of junk fish, twards the end of the week some boats managed to get some decent numbers up...but nothing like the wide open bite that can take place when you time it right. We managed 15 or 16 drum upto around 70 lbs, broke a few off and stroked a few off and probably got a dozen or so sharks and skates.

I cant say enough good things about the capt of the boat we chartered, this was our 4th time fishing with him....and the fact that we keep booking him up speaks for itself. He definitly brought his patience with him thats for sure....one of the guys in our party was like a bull in a china shop....his total for the trip was one broken rod, one totaled tld 25....in one fowl swoop he almost busted out the front windshield, stripped the wiper motor and broke the capts cell phone charger.......shortly after that carnage took place he almost snapped the handle off the net....but i have to tell you the capt took it all in stride and never copped a tude....how i have no idea, the rest of us behaved like good slodiers.

The bay was a touch crowded at the first drop....15 minutes without a bite and the capt gets a phone call and gives the order to bring em up....Ahhh networking at its finest...upon arriving at the new spot it was non stop action untill we decided to pull the plug and head in with plenty of meat to go around and a mean looking thunder storm rolling across the bay heading right for us. I was good to be out on the salt water again....even better to fight a few of those fish for what seemed like forever....and just flat out great to hang with the boys and do what we do....catch some fish.

I am pretty sure that is Capt. Kobey's ride.

Ha ha capt lee...i would like to see some one try without ripping the handle off of the bucket.....we were fishing with 6 oz of lead and i had a hard time finding 6 of them....most was 8 ozs and up in that bucket....there must have been 100 lbs of lead in that bucket.
