I have released 30 plus pound dolphin in MX and VEN because we had all we wanted. I have purposely stopped putting hooked baits in the water while chunking tunas because we had all we wanted. To me that is being responsible.
If I ever am fortunate enough to have a world record class fish caught by the rules on the end of the line and have a chance to kill it, and make myself famous I think I would.
In a tourney where it could make me hundreds of thousands I know I would.
I have fished with members of the IGFA board during the masters in MX, and I can tell you that they are conservation minded fellows, even though they are a member of a group that does, in some regard, support the killing of big fish.
I do not know in what respect, but I am sure that the IGFA does charitable works, and gives back to the fishing community. It is also one of the few "historical" record keeping clubs the sportfishing community has. Some other Fishing clubs have nostalgia on display, but I don't think any have near what the IGFA has in its museum.
Tough call BOX, but the IGFA ain't all bad, just as TBF ain't all good.
