A good friend of mine made me the plow of all plows.Today we started out with a 26mile run to the spot and 3/4ft getting the feeling we might want to rethink our plan.Today was the day to try it out THE DFB now this planer is 16x8 1/4 and weighs in at 5lbs we put it out on a 50lrs 2 speed reel on a key largo 80/class bent but rod 200lb braid 54ft of water and to the bottom it went pulled it up ten feet trolled at 3.5 to 4.8kts works great.Hopefully next time we can tell ya the slob came off it.This is just the prototype Ill try to get a pic so you can tell me what you think.
Guy's, Baywolf and myself got to see the "plow" when we got in this afternoon. I hope EMTAE shows a pic of it beside a 32, move over 32!, there's a new planer in town and it's scary
We tried to trip it today but it did not trip. What we had to do was put the boat in neutral and crank it on in on the planer rod.Felt and act a lot like the zwing. We are still working on it but for the first time pulling it on the turns and trolling into the seas it was tracking just like the 32 but with less of a angle. We were in 55ft and marked the plow on the sonor at 48ft with 60ft of line out from the rod tip at 3.8kts on the troll.
Well sorry no video yet.....But did more testing today and found out we could pull a dredge with 15 fake hoos at 7kts 15ft back and 10 deep. Not only can you use it as a planer but you can use it with a dredge also.We did change reels to a 50LRS2 speed with 400lb braid at 44lbs of drag at 30/38 it was creeping off the reel. The next DFB will have 3lbs of lead I will keep you up on how its working.
