DEAR SHIMANO....

I MADE THE SWITCH TO SHIMANO 7 YRS AGO...I HOPE I DO NOT LIVE TO REGRET IT.

AND I AM REFERING HERE TO THE TIAGRA MODELS....AND THE ORIGINAL CRANK HANDLES...THE HARD VINLY HANDLE WITH THE TWO METAL INSERTS IN THE END...ONE IS GOLD AND THE OTHER IS SILVER...PLUS THE OIL PORT FITTING BALL BEARING INSERT.

I HAVE NEVER ASKED ONE THING FROM YOU ....BUT NOW I AM CALLING YOU OUT TO PLEASE MAKE GOOD TO THE MANY...I SAID MANY ORIGINAL TIAGRA OWNERS WHO ARE MISSING THIS PART(S)

I AM NOT ALONE HERE WITH THIS REQUEST....

THE INSERTS FALL OUT OF THE HANDLE.....THIS IS BULLSHIP PLAIN AND SIMPLE....YOU KNOW IT...WE ALL KNOW IT

I AM NOW ASKING YOU TO COME HERE ON SFC AND PUBLICALLY INFFORM THE MASSES THAT YOU , SHIMANO CORP.....DO SOLEMLY PLEDGE TO REPLACE ANY AND ALL HANDLE INSERTS THAT HAVE FALLEN OUT OF OUR REELS....I TRIED TO BUY AN INSERT YESTERDAY AND WAS INFORMED I NEEDED TO BUY A 50 DOLLAR HANDLE.....WELL NOT ME.

THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND I EXPECT YOU TO MAKE IT GOOD .

HELL, EVEN THE FITTING WITH THE SPRING LOADED BALL BEARING FALLS OUT AT TIMES..THE ONE NEEDED TO OIL THE HANDLE.....

STANDING BY HERE SHIMANO.....NOW IS THE TIME TO STEP UP AND SHOW SOME GRATITUDE TO THOSE THAT $UPPORT YOU.

WAHOONBOX....

Marty,

Call shimano parts directly, the should be able to take care of it for you. The last part I needed they sent to me for free and free shipping without having to ask. I broke it by being stupid and that did not matter, they comped it anyway.

call 877-577-0600

What he said! If that for some reason doesn't work, let me know and I'll take care of it for you.

DID YOU TALK WITH SHIMANO BEOFRE TYPING YOUR STATEMENT?

Shimano has the best customer service in the whole fishing industry. I'd be willing to bet that if you send your reels in or even call, they would help you, no questions asked.

as much as the reels cost...i shouldn't even have to bother

hell no i didn't call them before i typed it....for one thing i don't answer to you dude did you call me before you typed your reply?

and i did call the parts counter number that dennis posted and i waited for 20 minutes.....and not one thing acomplished....which ius what usually happens...so after 7 yrs of this i am weary.

Check yourself.

I just called at 3:03 PST, On the phone now with a person at 3:04 PST. He is helping find the part you need based on description alone. Give me your address and I'll have them ship the directly to you. Deal?

Okay,
Just hung up 2 minutes after I called. Doug at Shimano has one in the mail free of charge going to my house. I'll see it Tuesday or Wednesday. Is that bad service? In case your wondering, No, I did not tell him where I work.

Since I don't actually need the part, PM your address to me and I'll use my work account to send it to your house.

Thanks and have a good weekend,
Hunter

Glad to hear that Shimano has good customer service, makes me feel better about my purchase of my 80 and 50.

Just about how many fish would you estimate that those reels have caught over the last 7 years, Box?

It's annoying as hell. The thingy's will fall off every now and then . Same goes for the old TLD50's. The look of the handle without that piece is ugly . Glad the new ones are better.
About customs, reel colors handles are the most comfy I've fished with so far, and love the flexibility on it. Perfect size and "action".

The small details are rather annoying, this one on the old tiagras/tlds, some accurate "rings" where the harness attaches that get rusted and some penn/shimano reel clamps that get "rusted" as well.

Time for me to go back fishing with 9/0 senators

SHIMANO, I love my older Bantum 250's and 50's which I have used and abused but the problem is I have to buy used reels off ebay to gut to replace the parts that go to shit, you would think if you sell a reel, you could get parts,NOT!!!PEACE

Marty,
If you will, allow me to possibly add a little clarification to your frustration, as I understand it.

Shimano started making these reel handles X number of years ago. I know (having a background with a Fortune 500 consumer products company) that they were aware of this issue within the first year of these being on the market. Yet they made no design change. They continued to ship this design because the cost to retool/redesign the part was far higher than the cost of sending out a replacement cap here and there.

I see these types of decisions made everyday. I used to fight with the product managers over this stuff, but at the end of the day, never got anywhere, because it always boils down to money.

That about right?
