It's funny how my previous post was deleted...
What I said was (directed to Marty), "You are calling HIM sarcastic? Pot...Kettle...you get the picture." I really don't see where me asking that question is any worse that the horrible attitude you initially took towards Hunter. Besides, the guy was trying to help you...as unappreciative as you were. Anyway...if a reply like that makes you mad enough to "bring the law" down on me (like you threatened me with in your PM last night), then you need to either toughen up your skin a bit or stop being so mean to those that attempt to help you out of a situation you are having problems with. I'll end by repeating how I ended my deleted post...by praising Hunter. He, Melton's, and Shimano are awesome. Great job by them all! Jay

One Guys Opinion
The way I originally read this was like this.
Marty was calling out Shimano in a very public but not rude or terribly derogatory way, more of; hey this problem went on for a while and you probably knew/know about it so why didn't/don't you do something about it to make good to many of your solid customers? Just calling a vendor and asking them for help will normally not make much of a difference in how they will deal with any quality issue. Yes, it does take a public call-out or slap on the wrist to get all big manufacturers attention and normally from lot's of consumers in many public forums before they will actually invest the time, energy and money to correct or fix an issue especially one that is more of an annoyance than functional like this one. On Hunters side he has a valid point suggesting to just contact Shimano direct as they do have one of the best and most responsive customer service groups in the industry. They have their facility right down the street here in Irvine, Ca. I have brought many a reel in for repairs or upgrades and in almost every situation they have fixed or repaired my gear faster and better then I expected and most times installed new parts at no cost. Seems like more of a misunderstanding than anything else and not worth a big blow-up. I know where Marty is coming from and I agree that you do need to call someone (shimano) out on occassion for maximum impact and it looks to me like Hunter was mainly sticking up for Shimano as he probably has a good relationship and past experiences with them and did provide a decent option to resolve the problem. FYI; Threshers are being caught out here in So, Cal in nice numbers as we speak...Close to shore! |

Yes we can.
If I had the controls to do so I'd delete what I put above out of respect for the Admin. My apologies, John. And I apologize to you also, Marty. Jay

Good luck getting a response to that. I tried to apoligize to him once also through a pm, after he sent me one flaming on me and saying he was going ban me. After I apologized he's response was I guess we're on the same page?????? I applaud you for your attempt to apologize, you are the bigger man.
