Dancing Around the Predator

Well I kinda thought it may be a good day today as I fed the "Fish Gods" on the way out as I always do on the way out in the morning. Warren could not be on the boat and you know what happens when things like that change. 10 miles from the "Break" small flyers were getting up all over the place and all I can think of this time of year is the inshore Sailfish. For you that don't know me, I get it as bad as it comes...much worse than "Tarpon fever"
This time of year I like to start a couple of miles inshore as the Whoos will tend to get in the "Mud" as we call it and today was no different and before I get to the spot we got a double of nice Whoos coming to the boat and I soon knew that I was going to have to be in the "Pit today. Hum...2 Whoos in the boat at 8:17 Am...yep good start. Oh carp, cover up with slingers, Now I'm in the weeds deep now. ( the term, "in the weeds" means that all your lines are bit and you have no bait to put back out as fish are put in the boat.)
I finely got another couple of baits in and were working on another and here cones a "Dirty White Boy" and piles on the right long, just right I think, now I can get some lines ready. (Ya, right) After 7 of 8 minutes "Whity" comes to the boat and has his picture taken and sent back home to be caught another day.
Damn, 5 Am I'm late to the boat, gottafly...see ya.

Get the planer back out and the left long and the planer goes off with another nice Wahoo...in the box. 2 more lines are put out and shotgun goes off...one jump and line is dumping fast. As the angler works on what I think is a nice Dolphin I get more lines ready to put out and by the time I get # 6 done I look up and see a Sail in the water...no way...yep way, way...how cool is this...White and a Sail. After a brief run around the pit I bring him to the side on the boat and grad him near the mouth and he goes nuts, slamming my hand on the side of the boat so hard that it breaks 6" of his bill off the tip. I decide that this one will ware the hook and I double wrap and pop the leader...second Bill of the day...cool...what time is it...9:50 am...wow.
Lines are back out (almost) and a big "Gaffer" in on that finely comes to the boat and is put in the box when another rod screams with another one.
Around 11:30 Am I climb out of the weeds and the rigging cooler is ahead of the game (thank God) and were not getting bit...what's up with this. I climb up on the bridge only to find that were 2 miles from the bite was and we get the boat headed back to it. Soon it is back on again and even with a well prepped bait cooler I'm soon in the weeds...again.
About 2:10 Pm the right short wit a blue and white Sail lure poops out of the clip and I did double take...another Sail. The video will tell the rest of this story and this was how we ended the day.
