A little longer focal length from the camera to the lens that allows a little better zoom (as I under stand it) for a wide angle. Down side is when zoomed all the way in you get the fisheye look as you saw in the rod (in the rod holder) bend as the camera moves back and forth. Knowing that, a small zoom in takes it out of play and you get a more "normal" look with it. FWIW, Yes I do have a few "new" bruises today...a couple in some strange places.
