I was using 80lb seaguar fluoro
and they were crimped with 1.0b double leader sleeves made by sea striker. the crimping tool was a standard sea striker hand crimper. I think that the leader broke a the crimp going to the swivle. My best guess was that its was over crimped.
My question is what slot do you use for the 1.0b double sleeves
is it the .01-.05mm, .05-1.0mm?
If the leader broke inside the crimp it was most probably overcrimped unless you made some unusual mistake like getting the lines crossed in the crimp (unlikely given the size sleeve you were using). The .01 to .05 mm slot is almost certainly too small. Try the .05 to 1.0mm slot and the good thing about 80 lb class leader is that you can take a double wrap and really test your connection to destruction (wear safety glasses).

A useful link to a good crimping article at Leadertech
You may already be beyond this level of understanding, as it has some basic priciples outlined. It does however have some more "advanced" information covered as well.

Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
Box and crew...
Sorry, I know that the failure was at the crimp and I am almost certain that the failure was due to overcrimping.
The first failure was on a tiagra 50w with 80lb momoi mainline and a seaguar 80lb leader the rod was a tallus medium fast 50-80lb class. I think the drag at strike was about 20lbs
The second was on a tld50 everything else was the same
I just want to re rig everything today and want to be certain that all the crimps are ok
Thanks Taylor
