I long for that day. I sreiously cant imagine it with fish that size. I have seen crazinedd like that with bluefish, albies, and other schoolies but never with fish that big.

    One day....

    You'd Think...

You'd think hooking up in a school of ahi that was in a feeding frenzy like that would be a cinch, but for whatever reason that's not always the case. Seems that sometimes the fish, at least out here in Hawaii where that video was shot, get so zoned in on whatever it is they're feeding on that they'll hit nothing else. Absolutely nothing else.

One time I was in the center of a line of about a dozen boats lined up nearly outrigger tip to outrigger tip, all running parallel to each other, trolling right through a school of 180# class ahi, some of which were jumping clear out of the water and waving their long yellow sickle fins at us. I watched in awe as ahi jumped all around us and no one, not even the boat with the green stick, got bit. We seriously thought about trying to drive under one of those jumping ahi but could never get to one quickly enough. No one caught anything from that school that day and at the end of the day we heard that less than a handful had been caught by the probably 200+ boats that were out fishing that day. The ahi were gorging themselves on little spotted yellow triggerfish; we could see dead ones floating in between the splashes of the ahi. Guess no one had 2" spotted yellow lures that day or if they did they couldn't figure out how to rig a big hook to one.

That's why it's called fishing, not catching.

I have to agree with Iawaia sometimes the fish are so zoned in on the bait fish that its impossible to get a hook up,I have come across this situation a few times last year,it sucks especially when you haven't boated anything all day
