Mr. Mako I presume......

Three years ago in April, boats in Hatteras were bolting hooks to their planers and really doing well on the makos up in the 400's. They were getting several shots a day on the planer itself.

I haven't talked to the boys yet, but from what I understand, my cousin fished near them today and apparently it was another splatterfest.

Several 60-70lb yellowfin.

is it just me or does it seem like the wahoos are thick as hell out there this year? i have heard two reports in the last week or so of double digit cutoffs on the tuna gear by slobber-roo wahoos.....
Seems they are Matt. We were out Monday and missed at least 5 due to cutoffs. Boated one at 49 and one at about 25. Had six yellers, three of which were between 50-65, and lost just as many due to googans playin "Kurt Gowdy" and pullin hooks. Also had four blackfin and a king.

Water was cold too. Best we found was 69.9 but the tuners were jumpin and eatin. Had to scale down to REAL SMALL baits. When I finally was able to coach one to get the fish to the boat and stick him, the fin coughed up hundreds of 1-1/2 to 2 inch rainfish.

THE DAY OF THE BRIDGE POLE

AHI......THE PLOW WAS 'FADED "BLACK......SOME OF THE MAGIC MARKER PAINT WAS A BIT THIN.....PICTURE COMING SOON......HEY DAVID...OLD SALTY....I'LL BE SHIPPING IT TOO YA

DAY TWO RUN-OFF REPORT:
THANK YOU JESUS.....

FINALLY A FLAT DAY FOR SOBX REGION........THERE ARE CURRENTLY 23 BILLION KINGS ON TOP OFFF THE BIG ROCK.....THE PROBLEM IS,....THE YELLOWFIN SHOWING ARE MINGLED IN WITH THEM.....WE DID PUT ONE 68 LBER IN DA BOX ....A GOODEN FOR THIS AREA....MOST WERE 28-32 LBS......THE KINGS WERE 6-18LBS....SOME WERE LESS THAN SIX POUNDS CAUSE THE BACK HALF OF 'EM WAS MISSING!!!!!!...........IF YOU WENT OUT THERE WITH TWO DEEP BLUE DRONE SPOONS...YOU WOULD FRIG UP SOME KINGS I TELL YA!!!! WE ALSO BOXED SEVERAL BLACKFINS...SOME AROUND 15 LBS.....AND BELIEVE ME...THE BLACKS ARE FINE EATING

THE "GULSTREAM" (EX-RUN-OFF) WAS ALSO TAIL-TOWING A MAKO NEXT TO US AND ALSO REPORTED TO BRIAN THAT THE TUNA AND KINGS CHEWED ALL NIGHT LONG....HE ALONG WITH A COUPLE GREENSTICK BOATS POUNDED THEM HARD THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT.............THE MOON WAS A 9 LBER...WITH ONLY A LEFT -LOWER SLICE OF LIGHT VISIBLE

OUR TOP SPREAD WAS , AS ALWAYS,....SIMPLE WITCHES-MEDIUM BALLYHOO

OUR BALLYHOO WAS IMPECCABLE...NO WASH-OUTS ALL DAY...OF COURSE THEY WEREN'T IN THE WATER LONG ENOUGH FOR THIS TO HAPPEN

ABOUT THE WAHOOS.....WE DIDN'T SEE A WAHOO YESTERDAY....FISHED A DIFFERENT AREA WHILE SEEKING THE SLOB SUSHIFINS....THE DO SEEM TO BE MORE PACKED UP THAN NORMAL THIS YEAR.....AND VERY HEAVY-BODIED ANIMALS THEY ARE...VERY THICK AT THE TAIL

IT WAS A FUN DAY/...LOTS OF ACTION...BUSTING Y-FINS BESIDE THE BOAT....SOME AIRING OUT AND PILING ONTO OUR RIGS......THIS WEEK WAS ALSO MY FIRST TRY IN OVER A YEAR WITH SPIDERWIRE ON MY LONGRIGGERS......30 YEARS OF MONO HABITS CAUSED ME TO LOSE SEVERAL FISH A YEAR AGO WHEN I FIRST TRIED THE SPIDER......I PANICKED AND CHANGED QUICKLY BACK TO MONO....GUNSHY MIGHT BE THE WORD I'M LOOKING FOR...........BUT ....YESTERDAY......I THINK I DID OKAY ....NOT PERFECT BY NO MEANS...BUT JUST OKAY..........I HOPE TO HAVE IT ON MY SHORT RIGGERS IN A COUPLE WEEKS

THE STAR OF THE DAY: THE BEAST....HE KEPT US IN ACTION THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND WAS RELENTLESS ON THE CONSTANTLY SCREAMING BRIDGE POLE....WHICH DONED 18 FT OF #8 PIANO WIRE

MY HANDS ACHE.....HELL ACHE IS A MILD WORD....TAKING WRAPS ON PIANO WIRE ALL DAY CRUSHED MY HANDS....AND THE YELLOWFINS CHEWED ON THE WIRE AS WELL......WIRING A 68 POUNDER ON PIANO WIRE WAS A MOMENT I'LL REMEMBER EVERYTIME I MAKE A FIST
