Well, not as many as there were. We took 26 out of the population. My good friend Gary (the BBQ man) and I made a spur of the moment trip to MHC Friday morning for some sheepshead fishing. After a trailer tire blew out on the way down we barley made low tide but we were able to stop in Swansboro and catch enough fiddler crabs to last the weekend. While as I was backing the trailer back in to load the boat, I noticed a big bubble on the inside of the other trailer tire!So we stopped and I purchased a tire on the way to AB. We offloaded the boat and stowed our luggage and headed to the Morehead waterfront to see what was caught. Capt. B and the Box had been busy that day with a pile of fish laying on the dock. We hung around and chewed the fat with them for a while (always a pleasure) and then went fishing once the sun got low in the sky. The wind was a issue the whole time, making a light bite even harder to feel but we did manage to fill a cooler with some nice keepers. We didn't have any trophy size fish, the biggest weighing just under 5 pounds. Here is Gary with a late friday evening keeper:
My first keeper came early Sat. morning. Anyone recognize my fishing location?
Gary answered with another solid fish just minutes later, the bite was hot the first two hours:
Then our biggest fish gave me the honor:
Man, I would hate to be a fiddler crab and see that coming at me!
The end result sent Gary home with a nice supply of tasty fish to clean. Brian, I'll see you this weeknd. Marty, good luck with your upcomong tournaments and stay safe in your travels. I'll see you in October.
