I thought this would be about the best place to put this topic. For those of you whose states allow concealed carry, what do you carry on you? I believe most people put too much emphasis on size of caliber. I have a few different choices to choose from and it also depends on the weather and clothes I am wearing. I usually prefer a .380 mostly Bersa but I also have the ever famous Keltec. Not a Kahr I know, but I shoot a lot and they perform flawlessly. I also own some subcompact 9s that I carry from time to time in the colder months. What are ya'lls preferences?

IF the leftest state that i live in would pass House Bill 470, Repealing the requirement that the Secretary of State Police find that a person has a good and substantial reason to wear, carry, or transport a handgun before issuing a handgun permit to the person.
This will change it from a "May carry" to a "shall carry" state. Right now its almost imposable for the average law-abiding citizen to carry.
I just don't understand the rational of a select few politicians!
A guy I know, carries a glock 27 (baby glock in .40) pretty much all the time. Even in shorts and a t-shirt, if the front pocket is big enough, it goes there, and if not it will go in the waistband and you just have to wear a shirt that hangs right. If you don't mind sacrificing some power, the new Ruger LCP in .380 is possibly the smallest, lightest, yet most reliable .380's on the market, and can be carried pretty much any where.
Unlike the peoples republic of Maryland and a select few other leftest states, Concealed Carry Permits are retentively easy to obtain throughout the majority of the US by law abiding citizens.
In recent years many states in the US have altered or added laws to allow for a person who receives proper training and has a clean record to Carry. Just google "shall carry vs may carry"
My preference is in the larger calibers...something like a Kimber CDPII either in the pro or compact...I have small hands so don't mind the shorter grip on the compact...the reason so much emphasis is put on caliber is if (God forbid) you do need to use it you want it to do the trick as quick as possible as fast as possible...for that reason .45 ACP is my first caliber choice for self defense...the other thing to think about is reliability...auto's can and will jam at the most inopportune times...if its going to be for self defense it MUST work everytime no exceptions...for this reason a super good quality auto or hammerless revolver would be a good choice...possibly the new .327 Federal for example in the revolver...
Also I have to disagree with Capt. kapoc's statement...so would most self defense instructors and very possibly the court system...you should be trying to retreat from the threat rather than advancing towards it...this eliminates any doubt should it go to court that you were looking for a fight and that you did everything possible to avoid the outcome that happened...
Once the gun comes out its usually fight over anyhow and hopefully without a shot ever being fired...good luck and be careful...
