Cold weather, time for warm thoughts

So this time of year is always tough for us New Englanders- the boats have been pulled, the gear put away. Sure we've got the Sox and the Pats to give us something to do on the weekends, but it just isn't the same as getting out on the water.

This time of year used to really wear on me. Then last year I decided to do something about it, and I started to mess around with video editing to pass the time. Well the time is here again- if I can't be in warm weather, I can at least think warm thoughts.

I just finished this video. The footage was taken earlier this year when my better half and I went to Isla Holbox in Mexico. It was truely a unique vacation as it was little more than a sand bar a few miles offshore. There were no cars, only golf carts. The days were spent cruising the shorelines in the gulf cart with spinning rods in tow. In the evenings, the whole town would gather at one particular point to fish. They were extremely helpful, and very polite. I hope you enjoy the vid....especially you Jer!

Thanks for the kind words guys...the island is truly one of a kind, and I want to get down there again before it gets discovered and loses its old world charm.

Marty, it was recorded in regular digital format, and the editing was done in Final Cut and exported using a quicktime conversion to make it small enough to be uploaded.

Yeah, I had posted up some pics of this trip earlier this summer, and finally had a chance to edit up the footage. I can't take credit for finding this one- my girl is great at finding these little places. There are a couple of charter businesses down there, and they can take you out for small snapper/grouper near shore, or 40 miles away there is a reef with some monsters. They have a specialty fishery for huge tarpon as well (150# plus). I would have been out there, but the wind didn't stop howling the whole time we were down there.
