    Cobia killing

My wife/fishing partner is out of town so I went after cobia by myself. About 8:30 I got a hit from a bottom rig and after clearing lines, I ditched the anchor to keep the brown suit away from the heavy holiday boat traffic. As luck would have it, I got to close to an anchored boat and a super nice guy named Matt offered to jump on my boat and gaff for me. All went well and in a few minutes we had a 40 lber in the bag. Things were quite for a while and the about 1:00 PM nature called and I was trying to fill orange juice bottle with the recycled stuff and stay hid from the boat traffic when you guessed it
the drag starts playing the tune. Same deal, I cleared lines ditched the anchor
and this one making tracts for the crowd. I fought this fish for about 30 minutes in and out of boats. One large 60 ft sport fisher seeing me with fish on ran right smack over my line. I jammed the 8' catfish rod down in the water
to the reel trying to lower my line and somehow it did not get cut. Once again I got pretty close to another boat of great guys. One asked if I needed help and I said yes but I can't get to ya. He said no problem pulling in all their lines, then pulling their anchor up, coming over and one of the guys jumped on my boat for the last 15 minutes. This 75 lber came half way out of the water two times, what an awesome sight. With my new friends help, number 2 went in the bag. This crew was asking questions about some "how to" which I galdly shared, hardware included. The pic is not very good, wife has the good camera with her.

Pretty work Greg. I'd say you got the cobia game figured out! I imagine your fishing partner will be a bit disappointed that she missed out on today's great catch!
    Thanks for the report.
