FILLET OF ROAD SNAIL?

Probably either an oyster mushroom or a white pinale, also known as chicken of the woods. The pinale, come either white or bright yellow/orange and only grow on oak trees for some very odd reason. They are worth their weight in gold up here in New England and I've been driving the back roads searching them out for about three weeks now. Doesn't seem too many people are knowledgable about this particular mushroom but if you've ever had any prepared properly you too would find yourself taking hikes in the woods looking for them. A couple more facts, they only seem to grow on the north side of the tree which would be the dark side or the wet side of the tree and from what I understand, the Asians have been trying to farm this particular mushroom but can't seem to figure them out! Don't ask me why I just wrote that much about what may not even be the same mushroom, I guess I'm bored.

Pretty good info there sushi, and very nice pic, but there was no oak tree near this. I have another pic I will post. I thought it a very beautiful what ever it is. Growing on the floor of a pine forest. I would love to find out more about it.
