looks like a cage for a veggie plant.. some people do that to keep the damn animals out..


but on the beach hmmmmmmm.

Fred is correct. I guess in about 60 days from 5/31 I will have to set aside a few days to sit beside the nest and look for turtles to boil out of the sand at night. The turtle people on our beach have added extra wire and habanero powder to try to keep the foxes from digging the nests up. Last year foxes ate the eggs from over half the nests on our beach and since the animal rights people don't want the foxes killed this is the best they could come up with. Wire alone wasn't keeping the foxes out since they would just dig under the cage.

I got to see 2 nests hatch last year near Fort Macon - Very cool. It is good to see a good number of active nesting sites in NC waters.

Over the years I have watched quite a few nests hatch. We are up to 9 on our beach so far. Just hope the foxes don't wipe most of them out again this year. I think last year they ate the eggs in 40 something nests.
