Circle hook, or strait?

I was wondering if someone could tell me the the main diffrences between a Circle hook, and a stait. Is the hook up percentage better or worse, does the hook spit easier with a circle or harder. Just a general comparison. And what species of fish are better to use Circle hooks?

For all the crap I give about circle hooks. They do have certain places that I actually prefer them. Bottom fishing comes to mind first and fore most. There my hook up ratio in deeper waters improves drastically. Circle hooks seem to hold better. I also use them for shallow water shark fishing, surf fishing and even live bait sailfishing with pretty good results.
In offshore ventures though I am passionate about my dislike for them. hyper low hook up ratio on quick striker like dolphin. They require painfully liong drop backs. Supposedly they set in the corner of a mouth rather than in harmful spots but I have seen not much real difference in placement in real life. Though gut hooking isn't common, I have hung gillsand eyes using them.
On a finer point, the barb being perpendicular to the shank as opposed to paralell trolls messier. There is a tiny wash of bubbles created in its wake and for a perfectionist its irritating. The J hook is point into the wash and throws less turbulence.
The smaller gap for a given size hook also makes them basically ineffective behind lures with heads as broad as or greater than the gap. Simple physics there.
