    chunking for bft

there is not much live bait around any more but the fish are still here in MA out on stellwagon, iv never done chunking so here is what ill try, any ideas?

hide hooks in full dead baits at different depths and toss out chucks every so often, and anchor or drift depending on current and winds. that all there is to it?

Yep. Use light fluoro leaders. You'll chafe a few off, but you'll get more hook-ups.

Live baits, bridled with circle or jobu hook in the nose. Chunk with herring. I'd even go as low as 130lb flouro, 30' leaders to large windon swivel. Get on the anchor at the edge of a ledge, balloon it out. The hard part is estimating the drift and the depth of the baits to keep them in line with the chunks. Theres alot of tips and tricks but half the fun is just going out there and figuring out what works. Good luck. 5am-9am is pretty much the best bite, but evening is ok too.

150lb florocarbon leader at a good length sounds good and if you can get your hands on live bait that would be great, sardines and squid should work well on heavy gamakatsu hooks. I personally prefer J hooks but alot of guys are die hard circle hook fisherman. I also recomend jigging butterfly as well as hammered diamond jigs once you get nice readings of bait and hit those depths tuna ATTACK butterfly jigs as a reaction and you can cover more water jigging vertically. also fish several different depths drop a few rods deep with egg sinkers and balloon a few too.
