A Christmas Story
Last week our shop (office) had our Christmas party, and instead of a gift exchange or anything like that we brought non-perishable food.
Today the guy that collected everything brought it to the local food bank. When he got there it was closed for some reason. As he was getting ready to leave he saw another car there he walked over to them to see if they knew what was going on.
Here’s the short version of the conversation. “I was just coming up here to drop off all this food. Do you know why they are closed?” “No we were coming here to try to get some food for Christmas and where going to wait to see if they would open.” In the car was a husband, wife and teenage daughter. My buddy says “I think I can solve both our problems”, and gave them all the food everyone brought to the party, which was a lot.
He said they were speechless! I can’t help to think how bad they felt up to that point waiting for food so they could have a little something on Christmas. But, by chance they had their own little Christmas miracle.
It made feel both sad and happy at the same time. Sad that there are many people that truly have nothing and are at wits end. Happy that by each of us giving a little something we were able to brighten their day a little bit.
I know box does great things for the boys and girls club, and many other people give in their own way. Just remember something that we may consider small may be a big deal to someone who has nothing.
Everyone have a very Merry Christmas with their friends and family, but please remember those that have less and if you can give a little something to them it may give them the hope and joy they need.
One last note being a retired Marine, please don’t forget all the service men and women that are deployed around the world. They are in harm’s way willfully protecting the freedoms so many of us take for granted. Keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers.
Merry Christmas Everyone.

Thanks for sharing that Ponce. There have been times when I had to rely on family to get by and I know where those folks are coming from. I was lucky and had folks to help me.
I'm really glad you guys were there for these folks. Times are hard, really hard, for some.

Ponce, that was awesome. I can tell you that donating or giving something that you have to someone in that situation is the best feeling. It's just really sad that there are people in this world that are in that situation. I wish each and and everyone of you and your families a blessed Christmas and a Great New Year. I'm glad I'm part of this SFC forum and I consider all of you family. Thanks for putting up with me!.
