CLARIFICATION HERE
I WANT TO BE SURE THAT NO ONE ON THIS BOARD OR IN THE WORLD FOR THAT MATTER THINKS THAT I WOULD USE THIS PLANER......THIS POST WAS BEGAN IN NOV '05 AND WHILE RESEARCHING SFC...I CAME ACROSS IT
IT IS AN HEIRLOOM OF WHAT VALUE IF ANY I DO NOT KNOW....IT BELONGS IN THE SFC MUSEUM THAT I HOPE TO ESTABLISH ONE DAY
THERE IS ONLY ONE PLANER IN MY EYES......AND THE EYES OF THE BFT BELOW ME....OLD SALTY...

Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
Marty, that is the planner that Noah used. There should be two of them.

Wow big "M", Have not seen them in a long time. I have 1 or 2 in my rod storage shed, why I still have then I don't know other than I'm a "pack rat". Sorta worked for slow trolling but needed tuning all the time.
Any faster speed and they would either slid into another line or poop out of the water and come flying back at me.

Crab mustard is good
Slightly off topic question
Does anyone know if I can use a #24 Old Salty off a Penn downrigger with the 4 foot boom? I suspect that it will put too much pressure on the arm, but I'm not sure.

Bite me
Hi Marty,
Boy this is an old post.
Luxon Divers date ALL the way back to 1959,
there was one on ebay last week, still in its original
package. The seller said the date on the box was 1959.
You've got yourself an antique, just like we do.
I think we have every U.S. made diving planer ever made,
stored in an old tool box in the shop.
AND THE ANSWER TO TROLLING THE #24 on the
Downrigger is YES. It is used ALL the time, trolling
for Kings & Grouper down in Florida. With a Blacks
Downrigger release.
There is a basic diagram on our site, trolling on the downrigger. If you're gonna troll for blue fin, run the
Hand-Line Set up.

I have one of these that dad had in amongst his fishing gear. Unfortunately he is 92 and his memory is no good. That looks like a number 4. Dad fished off Townsville and I felt he used this one for mackerel but I am not sure. I would love to know how to rig it before I throw it out.

Sorry Old Salty, I just saw your diagram, thanks, very helpful!
