THIS BADBOY MACKERAL BAIT HAS BEEN A STABLE MARLIN MEAL IN MY SPREAD FOR YEARS , NOT TO MENTIOPN GREAT DINING ON THE GRILL OR FRYER ...............NOT TO MENTION THE MANY STUD MUFFIN BULLS AND CITATION WAHOOSKIS THAT HAVE FALLEN VICTIM TO ONE IN THE SHORT RIGGER

GENTLEMEN, LET'S TALK AMERICAN MACKERALS HERE....

MY FIRST TIP OF THIS THREAD:

WELL IT COMES FROM CAPT BRIAN EMC WHO DURING A COOL MACKERAL BITE....HOLLERED DOWN TO ME ONE DAY AND SAID..... "CHANGE OUT THAT LEFT PLANER SPOON.....IT IS GETTING VERY LITTLE ATTENTION"

I QUICKLY CRANKED ON THE TLD 15 AND NOTICED HOW TARNISHED THE 0-RBMS CLARKSPOON LOOKED.....18 SECONDS LATER AND A BRAND NEW SHINEY CLARKSTER WAS RETIED & BACK IN HOT ACTION ....DOING WHAT IT LOVED TO DO BEST....THAT'D BE SNAGGING AMERICAN MACKERALS.

EITHER POLISH THE TARNISHED BLADES AND CHANGE THE HOOK OUT...OR REPLACE THE WHOLE KABOODLE.

IF THIS THREAD TAKES OFF I WILL SHOW A VIDEO OF AN AMERICAN MACKERAL RIG THAT I CAME UP WITH IN 1989 AND IT STILL GETS ER DONE TO THIS DAY

We got the first ones of the year yesterday on the Blue Water. They seemed to prefer the gold ones yesterday and upon their arrival they were treated to an ice cold brine bath. They now rest peacefully in the freezer waiting for a circle hook and the second week in June!

Now these spoons sport a red bead, a green machine has red beads. I wonder if there is some kind of trend here?

AS FAR AS THE RED BEADS ON THE GREEN WEENIE.....MOST RIGGERS HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHY THEY USE THEM!

Here is a tip for the newbies who are going CHASING AMERICAN MACKERALS ...

first of the season, pull 00RBM spoons. As a rule, I pull gold o cloudy days or stained water
as the season progresses, move to 0RBM spoons...

wednesday night on the pier, caught 18, gave em all away , juust fun playing with em.

thursday , caught/kept a limit, and released a handful..
