Very nice Marty. I love to watch you wire those giants! Never gets old. I hope you get to do it often this season with fat, high grade fish!

Man I love the POON
A couple things you may want to watch out for that I noticed on that clip....now take this with a grain of salt as I'm not an expert in the least, but lessons have been learned that are valuable to share, and if you're looking to stick your first giant they may help out.
First, if you can you should try your hardest to never throw/stick a fish across the line. In the video, the POONer was forward of you- all that would have taken is one small glance with the tip as he's about to stick the fish, and that line is parted, you're on your back side, and that fish is gone. The better approach there would be for you to get the wraps like you did, and walk forward allowing the dude with the POON to get in the port corner with the POON tip faced straight back behind the boat (so the tip doesn't come into play). When the time comes, he swings the POON forward, and the line is ahead of the shoulder shot which is obviously the best place to stick the fish. When the POONer is ahead of the fish like in the vid, all he is looking at is the gill plate, which as you know is like trying to stick a piece of steel.
Also, when the POONer steps up, it looks like the line is behind the back of his legs- this potentially is very dangerous. I don't know if the poon is tied off to a poly ball in a basket behind him (which would be good), or if it is tied off to the chair or the stern cleat, but care should be taken with that line. The best thing to do with the line in most cases is to tie it off to a cleat, and put the line forward of the toes of the person who is throwing the POON- this way that person (or anyone else) can't get stuck between the gunnels and the dart line with a few hudred pounds of pissed off sashimi on the other end.
Again, not trying to say that I'm any kind of expert, just trying to help out. I learned from a guy who could stick a giant from 15 feet away- it cut down on the number of fish that were lost boat side, but he was sure to teach me the "what not to do's", which many times are even more important than the "what to do's".
I can't wait for all of the POONing action from down there, maybe I'll even take part in some myself.

Very nice video. Looks like something I need to do before I die. I cant believe this goes on less than 400 miles from where I am! I gotta make more road trips!
