    carolina classic retro coming soon.

guys, we are in the middle of repowering and converting the carolina classic over to a crusader freshwater cooled big block, will start giving updates and a few picks from day to day for those who might be interested in the makings of a repower/conversion.

yeah, the yanmar 315 was what we were looking into and also what mac p. suggested, but based on fuel economy it would take a while to get our money back in savings on fuel. i was astounded at the price of a new yanmar 315, and not to mention the outdrive would have to be replaced to a 3x to handle the diesels torque.

I am sure it would have taken awhile to pay for your investment but you also get the longevity, safety, ease and lack of maintenance, speed, etc. Sounds like you already gave it some thought...just wanted to throw it out there. Good luck, Brian!

I guess the old engine died of the water drinking issue? I've heard the Crusader is the only gas powered solution. I would think the volvo drive is more than up to the Yanmar, my guess is that it won't mate up the drive because of some Volvo deal?

I must say, I may possibly be done with gassers.......unless I end up with a boat with one or 2 weedeaters on it.

My father just bought a 26' Fortier and we are now getting 3 NMPG with her at a 17 kt cruise, and a SWEET ride!

Dude, she SIPS the fuel....this type of boat will be the way of the future.....I'm not kidding.

26'er, 10' beam, 230 HP Volvo Supercharged, turbo, diesel.
