You never know what might swim up on you. This fella scared the hell out of me. I thought it was a dead body at first. Not too often that you see a manatee in southeastern NC. First one that I have seen down here.

She sould be heading back home about now as water temps were in the low 70's on sunday in the river. Every year in wrightsvill Beach we have a sighting in June, nice to see one in Sept...
I have always looked at this as a good omen... great pictures Slip, thanks for sharing...

Cool post when I went to Key West this yr. we had a couple of regulars around the boat docks.Don't leave a water hose running w/o a nozzle while washing the boat,I think that damn manatee had about 6ft. of hose in him Luckily we got it back and he swam off alright. But they would come up and surface around every boat in the marina until they found a hose...
