Great Pics Slip. Like Fred said I remember the one at the Southport Marina. I was cleaning fish and had the water hose running into the water when the manatee came up. Scared the crap out of me at first because I thought it might have been a big gator. He loved the water streaming out of the hose.
Which resturant were you talking about Grady?
Great pics Nick. I hope the kids got to see him/her. I saw one last spring swim through the Bridge Tender Marina headed north. Sometimes without a picture no one will believe you.
Anyway maybe this is a good omen for some good fall fishing ahead!

These are very friendly critters.
I have been cautioned in fla not to feed them water or any thing else or face a hefty fine!
I have also heard they love a head of fresh lettuce washed down by fresh water.
Not speaking from experience, of course!
Whats the limit on them rascals? Taste like gator I hear......
I can see it now.. friend- thanks for the invite to the cookout
Nick. Where did you get the pig?
Nick- That aint no pig son, Thats a fla
water cow!!enjoy!!!!!!!!
I know this made your day, cool pics bratha........
They aparently don't get much fresh water, so they will find a target of opportunity (water hose) and drink as long as the water is running.
NC Wildlife came by and told us not to turn the water on when the manatee was in the marina, because they would hang out in the marina too long and not be able to migrate south for the winter.
You'd think with all of that blubber, they'd be ok in cooler water - I sure am![]()
