Day one found a good number of fish being seen and hooked up. At the end of the day, Maria 3 has the led with 2 Sails. Contgrats to the Capt. Mel and crew on the Maria 3 for an outstanding day.

As for the gottafly, we had 3 good shots at ones that I saw today but could not keep them hooked or get a hook in them. Bill wraped one, pulled the hooked on one and plan out and out missed the other one. Had one more bite that I'm about 99% sure was a Sail by the way the leader was scraped up and the bait was ruffed up but I never saw the fish. Tomorrow is another day...

Found us with a great bite and 18 Sails were released today. Based on time, the Maria 3 won the tournament with 2 Sails releases yesterday and congratulations goes out to Capt Mel and the crew of the Maria 3 as I know that making it through today with all the fish being caught was nail biting for the crew. A 2 day total for the tournament were 25 Sails for 47 boats fishing and remember that no one was allowed to fish past 27 miles out. Most all of the fish were caught about 18 miles off the beach today, here is the run down and tomorrow I'll fill in the awards as is tomorrow...

and at 12:48 the gottafly released a Sail but was DQ as we were not able to get a picture with the tournament camera but it was counted in the tally for the tournament as was witnessed by 5 or 6 other boats and we also had Craig Holt on board with us whom is a sports writer for NC Sportsmen Magazine and doing an article on the tournament for us and took about 50 pictures of our fish. Should be in print in the next issue.

Count it Lee !!!! Even if the crew didn't get it on the tourny camera I know at least three boats that got pictures of the release from afar with the leader in the Captn's hand.
