    Cape Lookout Spring Break!

Came back to the Piedmont last night a the forecast was preet strong winds for a few days... Just looked at the weather down in Harkers Island and it's blowing 3 kts!!!!! WTF, the weatherman better shut up....
Anyway this report is a little old now but we headed to the Bigrock friday and the water was only 68F. Went all the way to 900 Feet and water was only 69.2F so we put lines in and headed back into that freakin wind... Not a bite and we changed to plan B going to the bottom. With the colder water our jigs very rarely came back to the surface without a tug.
The kids are getting strong as they battled over a dozen good sized AJ's each without complaints.... Lost a few jigs to kings before switching to wire and we missed the bigest king our boat has seen while the 3 other rods were busy on AJ's. Next time one of us will be ready with the gaff!
Got some groupers and Austin caught his first pudding head.
Seabass on a closer wreck were amazing and didn't take long to fill up. The wind died down in the afternoon and I got to sleep all the way home!
Still no yellow bellies for us this year but mid april will soon be here!
    MM

Good Lord what a catch! I believe the MM may have been top hook on the east coast last Friday. Excellent photos! The scamp is always a treat and those fat triggers eat better than most. Fantastic bassin' as well.
    Who needs yellowbellies?
    Keep on catching and posting!

Finrazor, we use Williamson and Braid jigs usually the bigger sizes, don't even know what weight...
Seabass, we didn't mess around with the jigs but brought them up 2X2 with bait.

MM, I really look forward to your reports. Nice change of plan. I don't know if I would consider it plan B though. Great catch and report as always. Thanks for sharing. Keep taking those kids fishing. Or is it the other way around?

So you like dem big porgies, don't ya Southshore? Slip Slidin and JMS-ILM specialize in catching "large" porgies. They got some good numbers! Live bait is the ticket!
