    Cape Lookout 6/7 report

After all these good reports lately about Mahi's and Marlin we headed pretty confident that we were going to be washing down blood all day... Quite a crowd was heading towards Big Rock and nice water showed up pretty fast but we were hoping to find a good weed line and kept going. The water temp. got to 80 and I thought... Went way to far!
Pulled our baits for over an hour without a bite and we planned to push offshore instead of going back closer.
Before heading out we dropped some lines to the bottom and brought up some broom tails and almacos.

Then something figthing a little differently was coming up on Patrick's line and when he started seeing it yelled, F you damn shark! A couple more cranks and it turned to be a nice cobia...

It was getting hot and the boys started jumping in the water each time a fish came up and watch the other fish swimming around.

Had this parrot type fish come up. Haven't yet checked what it is???

It was time to try and get a pelagic so we pushed all the way to 900 Ft.Even put out some Big lures in for the first time since we fish this area but Nada!!!

Had a wahoo cut a baby blackfin very close to the boat but never came back for the front part...

Time to go on the bottom again......
Put the boys to work right away in some 230 Feet water. Marc had a hard time holding the rod if it was someting else than a trigger or pinky... 36+" Almacos in that depth is not what we call fun but Patrick handled the beasts alright but after a while put a belt on....

We then found a sweet spot and the first pudding heads came up. Patrick would should Biscoto, Biscoto!!! once he recognized the type of tug.... Yes Seabiscuit, you are now a Legend!

A little closer we got 3 Gags with Patrcks being again the nicest and so he had he's first grouper slam...

Even though we didn't catch a single fish trawling we ended up with a box and cooler full and a great day with my two boys. I do miss not having Jacky on board but Marc who has not fished a lot is learning and will be operational one day.

Hopefully some cooler water will soon push in or it will be a slow week for the Big Rock!

Outstanding guys. Yes the troll was a bit slow yesterday for us too.

Your crew is getting a lot of great experience - won't be a thing they can't handle soon...
