    Cape Lookout 5/17 report

With a very windy start we were forced to give the cobias a try at the Bight but the water temp had dropped to under 67F and the fish just weren't in yet. We got quite a few cut off from big chopper blues and pulled the hook on one cobia. After having enough of sharks and stingrays the wind finally died down some and we ran to the east side for a little more action.
Got a few bottom dwellers and the boys had a blast on AJs and albies on poppers. Wish I had the video but my first mate (Jacky) who usually prepares everything wasn't with us and we forgot the camera...
Anyway not much of a report!
BUT........ We had the Honor, Privilege and Pleasure of seeing Wahoonbox this morning who came around Marshallberg to pick up a couple triggers and seabass for dinner!

    Thumbs up

That's a good day right there. Way to go. Now I really wish I could have fished this weekend.

    nice job guys...some good eating.

Its hard to do much of anything with the wind, looks as if you made the best of it!

Do you mind if I ask where you found the Albies and AJ's ?

Light tackle fishing for albies on the top is mighty fun. Not worth much on the table but they make great strip baits or chum.

looks like a really good move you made, we stayed on the hook all day without a cobia hit, maybe next time. Congrats on the pile of good eats.

Versatility pays, as you guys already know so well! A very nice catch once again MM team.
How deep did you fish on the east side?
Cobia fishing WILL bust wide open this week.

The Merry Marlin crew somehow always gets quality eats in the box. Congratulations again fellas for a job well done. Sounds like Box got a few snacks out of the catch. Very nice.
