Question Can Someone Help Me Out

I have had my boat now for 5 months and i have only been catching small fish around the reefs, mainly snapper. It's a 22' Sea Quest. I have been on a couple of charters and caught Wahoo, Tuna, Mahi and Bara's and i now feel its time to start catching some of these species on my own boat. I have GPS and Fishfinder(Garmin and Furano) on the boat. My dilema is i really dont have anyone to show me how to set up everything, tell me what to use as bait, which lures are best and how to set them up, line strength, do i use a trace? if so what strength...do i need a leader and if so how do i set that up? I think you might have the picture by now....so if someone can help me out with advice and if possible any diagrams, it will help me out immensly. BTW i am based in Antigua.

    HMMM

My only advice to you is go to go the local marina when some guys are coming in and ask them if they would share what works well in your area. Size of line is going to depend on what rods and reels you are using. You can learn a lot from just going down to the docks and talking to the local fishermen there. That is how I learned some of my knowledge and then I have also learned a TON from this website alone.

    Just my 2 cents

    Good luck,

    Jeremy

    Thanks Jeremy,

I found some of the videos on site that showed me the basic set up for Ballyhoos which helped a lot. But i will take your advice and speak to some of the locals.

    Start simple...

The K.I.S.S. principle certainly will help you out learning. Learn to catch bait and tie knots and you will be well on your way to the fish catchin.
