Bumpy Friday

Slid off Friday morning out of Wrightsville looking for a sailfish only to just watch baits swim for a few hours and then low and behold the bottom lit up like a christmas tree! We were kind close but figured we would throw the hook and see what lived down there. First drop Bang! Gag Grouper. Into the box and looked over my shoulder to see a cobia eye to eye.....quick flip of the wrist and the bait was in his mouth and we were hooked up. 5 minutes later fish in box. Rigged another bait and fired it down only to have it meet the same fate as the previous bait Wham! Gag Grouper. What had started as a sailfish trip had turned into another bottom fishing adventure. So nice to find these fish it seems everywhere I go, I wonder if they are following me? I'll work on pictures for this but My camera man did not really do this trip any justice. None the less great to play hooky on Friday and come home with some great eats!

Been a good year for inshore gags so far.
