Squirtis. If you talk with him again i'd be very intersted as to where he is fishing. I'm heading over to Chennai for a month starting next saturday and when i'm not face deep in curry i'd like to do some fishing.

The fishing is about 100 miles south of Bangalore my friend runs the fishing camp there if your friend wants to go let me no as he is there for about another 5 weeks. He should be able to fit him in .

wade fish downriver from a village in India! Lots and lots of bro wn trout.

I was in Chandigarh in northern india a few months back - we went up to the foothills of the Himalaya one weekend to sightsee; no rods.

At one river crossing I walked down to the very rocky and wild river; and mentally prospected the pools and lies for fish as I walked it.

There was one perfect pool behind a 10' boulder. A couple guys had a fire going 20 yards down river from it. One got up from the fire; came upstream next to me and fired a handmade castnet into the pool. he came up with a couple 12-14" fish I suspected were mahseer but could not identify for sure.

Off he went to the fire to grill up the fish with his friends; very cool - with the hint I could see through the water and see a couple more fish holding in the calm behind the boulder.

Time passed. Our nimrod friend got up; walked upstream passed us to the next rock; dropped trou; then dropped trout.

Corn fed fish anyone?
