We'll we have all experienced those days of boredom, throwing countless chunks in the water, whether it be sharking or tuna fishing... We'll here is what happens when the boredom gets to you...

Items needed: Extra 50w
5 gallon bucket
5 pounds of expendable weight
A Sleeping crew member....

Drop the 5 gallon bucket down 75' turn the clicker on, wake your sleeping friend up and hand him the rod, tell him he's hooked up to a good one.

You will be suprised how long it takes someone to reel in a 5 gallon bucket full of water with 5# attached to it.

I've never done that as a trick, but a few years ago, we hooked a 5 gallon bucket (without our knowledge) - nearly spooled a 50W and we had to back down on it - thinking we had hit the mother lode... Imagine the surprise when we had a bucket by the handle...

I have been a part of this trolling in the canyons. Had one of our buddies thinking we were on a billfish. He was in the chair all strapped in screaming to get the rest of the rods in. I was laughing so hard and trying to hide it that I could not even pretend to clear the spread. Had to back down in a 55 Rybo to get the bucket back in a reasonable amount of time.

Always a good one to pass a few mins when boredom has set in.

when i worked on a few party boats back in the day i had a good trick..when you get that guy on the other side of the boat that knows EVERYTHING lol and he is hooked up to the guy on the other side and dosent know it yet...you hook an empty beer can REAL good and drop his lin in the water..that way the water flows across the open mouth of the can causes it to flutter and making the rod tip shake just like a monster lounder...lol the look on his face is priceless!!!!!
