I guess I am opposite of most. I think they are beautiful shotguns and fascinating mechanically but I never could shoot them well at all. As a kid, I had my choice between an A-5 20 gauge or a Winchester Model 12 16 Gauge each time I went out. I was far more successful with the Model 12 than the A-5. I still have them but shoot an O/U Beretta most of the time.
I shoot a 1956 A5 and NO I can't seem to shoot any other shotguns after getting used to it (Lord knows I've tried a few too)
So instead I just added to the A5 collection with this "Sweet little 16" from Ducks Unlimited

Rip,
My gun is a "sweet 16" as well. It resembles yours where some of the bluing has worn off. What a pretty piece of work yours is!
Mama tried,
Cool story
I had a very similar choice between a Savage 20 gauge single shot, an Ithaca 12 gauge pump, and my old hand me down "sweet 16". Considering we would often "bird" hunt the afternoons away after toting decoys and dogs on and off the marshes all morning, it's no wonder why I chose to carry the Browning most days. Nowhere near the power of the twelves and tens for waterfowl or deer...BUT...I'd rather shoot the whites out of their eyes with my gun than tote one of those heavy sumbitches around all day. Not to mention the sentimental value.
I am partial to the Brownings for sure.
