    Braided Line

Ive been having alot of problems with power pro, i love it offshore wise but inshore i want to know some different options some of you have used. I want go back to mono, but i would like to try some different braided line.

I honestly dont know what the reason behind this is but it seems every other cast its gets loops.

Ive heard severel times that by flipping the bail with the reel can cause this, so i quit doing so and im still getting line twist and loops. Ive used bradied line conditioner, dosnt seem to help.

Its just gottin to the point where im cutting about 15 yards of braid off my reels every other 30 minutes.

    Any suggestions?

stretch it out good. put a big swimming plug on it, let it out really far and drag it for a while. It gets a lot better once it is weathered a bit. Mine did, I use Power pro mostly

    Hey Brandon,

That's all I use, I don't see myself ever going back to mono.. Durability, feel, and I can cast a whole lot further with Power Pro.Do you re-line your reels or do you have them done?

Just about all I use too. Power Pro. What pound test are you using? I am assuming we are talking about spinning gear? Did you spool them?

One of the main reasons for getting loops in your braided lines is casting a very light lure and not being able to keep tension on the line when reeling it back in. If you are throwing a light jig into the wind or current and trying to take up the slack quickly you will almost always throw a loop in the line. Tension on the line at all times will eliminate loops on your spool. And like you have been doing, flip the bail by hand. This will also help your situation, but keeping tension on the line is the key!

Great comments Joe..I was thinking the same thing..As we start downsizing our baits for the winter season, what do you suggest to overcome this phenomenon? Also I was asking Brandon if he spools his own reels, in the past I have run into a problem as well if I don't hold the spool correctly and don't let it roll of the top as it seems to loop as well.Opposite for baitcasters.

Thanks guys, the tension is probably the reason.

Ive used power pro for a few years now but its become a pain lately and its gotta be not enough tension. Ive been throwing very light lures for trout and drum lately and its gottin worse. Put two and two together it makes alot of since.

Ive got braid on over 30 reels both spinning and conventional. But i will try stretching the line out good. And it was put on by a machine.

Any one use fire line much?

    Thanks again guys.

Brandon I use the crystal Fireline on all my speckled trout and redfish outfits. I love it! It ties well and I can see the crystal better that the smoke. As far what to do about the light lures. I just keep and eye on my spool more when retreiving lighter lures or in higher winds. I don't know if there is anything you can actually do, except try to always position the boat where you can cast down wind or cast quartering the down current angle to help deep more tension on the line.

For some reason I have had big trouble with power pro and twisting. I switched to the Daiwa Samurai or Boat Braid and it is a WORLD of difference. That stuff is amazing. It is smaller in diameter and much less brittle. Its quite soft actually. You might want to consider this stuff for your replacement.
