Boyz just want to have fun
Life throws us all a curve every now and then and yesterday I was thrown a dozy that I won't get into here and I was in need of a good head enema.
As I walked into Causeway Café this morning I was tossed a nice pleasant one when I saw my old friend Derek Knott (Dknott77 on the board) sitting at the counter having a coffee. Derek joined me at my table and old friend ships were rekindled and brought up to date as if we saw each other yesterday. Shortly Alex (unoyankeefan ) came in and sat with us and the jibber jabber at the table was, yep you guessed it, fishing and soon a plan was laid out to harass some fish.
Alex received his new boat and was going to put some time on it so Derek and I decided were going to look for some Trout to harass. After coffee and breakfast, we ventured down the Derek's new ride that he is running, a 62 Winter Custom, called "GALOT" for a short tour (I will try to give you guys a photo tour of this boat before I head out of town) that tuned out to be over an hour as I could not stop asking questions about this beautiful boat. The engine room was without a doubt my down fall as I spent at least a1/2 hour in there. With out a doubt the boat is a work of art on the inside as well as out.
After the tour Derek and I made plans to meet at my house and pull the boat to the ramp as we both needed to get a couple of things done. Upon arriving, we readied the boat put some gas in her and off we went to find some fishes that wanted to play. With near noon and top of the fall we pulled into the first spot and on Derek's second cast the first little guy, Red Drum, was on and was to the boat. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a little black and white furry thing go flying out of the boat to start the swim home...

This guy was so cute and had one of the bluest tails I have seen in a long time...

Next fish was my turn and my target, the elusive Speckle Trout...quick picture...

Facial for Holdwhatyougot...

A quick kiss good by from me...

and Derek has another Drum that I missed getting a picture of and I pop a nice Trout on a Catch 2000...

This were a couple of tools for the day...

After a little while longer the current changed and it was time for us to move on, so the hunt was on with the falling tide.
We hit a couple of points with no luck and decided to try a couple of places that I have not fished before, yep we found a couple of spots I have not fished...
The first one we hit, Derek got this nice Red Drum on his first cast...

On the very next cast he got a very nice trout...

Love the next 2 pictures of Derek...

Working down the bank Derek found this little guy...next years keeper fish...

and then the lip shot...

After this fish, we got a little side tracked and wound up in the ole shrimp hole looking for some dinner, which we found. By now it was time to head back to the hill and yes, as you may have been able to tell, the boyz did have fun...

Nice "Speck" catch fellas along with a beautiful day to be on the water. Sometimes those "last minute, lets go fish" trips are the best!

Got fish
BTW is this the Derrek Knot that at one time worked at Boater's World in Wilmington? If so I remember a trip to the Bahamas fishing with Tred Barta and Derek and he catching his first Blue Marlin...............some time last century

Nice, Capt. Lee. Tell Derek he should smile a little more for the camera... Looks and sounds like a killer day!
