Geoff (Holwachagot) and Nick (Slip Slidin) joined me today to put a few more hours on the new Seabiscuit. I already scheduled her break in service for Monday, so we HAD to go!
Geoff drove all night and arrived jacked up like that dude in pulp fiction. Nick, after a couple of weeks of caring for his under the weather little ones was due too! I just wanted to break in the motor, but those two were after carnage.
Carnage they got. Late start (8 AM), but calming seas let us make good time. The plan was to explore an area of interest in the 35 - 40 mile range. 100 feet deep, water temp unknown as my transducer temp probe is on the blink. Slip had made a couple of marks there a few weeks ago, but we had not yet had a chance to investigate.
The marks were good and the fish hungry. Geoff got the ball rolling with two grown gags that had him crying for mercy
Then the fat reds came calling
The area was producing and the fish were nice ones, so we decided to not keep any small ones, unless badly hooked.
Geoff kept working
The smile never left his face. It got bigger when we happened upon a patch of scamps
Quality fish
By the third stop we limited out and could not close the box lid
My little boat's second trip, turned out to be a memorable one
Fishing with Nick and Geoff is a real pleasure. Catching good is icing on the cake.
Thanks boys,
SeaBiscuit
took the words right out of my mouth matt. Now thats a cooler of fish. Why don't you give them a break for a week poor fish don't have a chance with you guys around
Great day in the morning. I think the reason these guys get such a late start is they must charter a flight to some unchartered Carribean atoll. It's gotta be--- no one else smokes the biggens like you guys in Carolina on such a consistant basis.
Thanks for all the compliments guys. I love bottomfishing and have been working at it for a long time.
Let me assure you, however, that I am am novice by comparison to the best bottomfishermen of our area. Jeff Scott, Lee Taylor, Mike King & Bruce Sessoms just to mention a few have each forgotten more about bottomfishing that I would ever hope to know. 10 box day trips are for real with those captains.
Thanks again,
Nick
