The Box had me the first day with a nice hoo in the box so the pressure was on . Was supposed to be chunky this AM but when we hit the edge of the stream it was just right. You know when its right you can just feel it, but you can't say anything, for bad carma. We had some of Overboards family onboard and Sea Dragin. Throttles back and dumped the mess in. I turned back and told one of the crew, 30 minutes and we'll have the first fish in the box:cool: . Sure enough, the planer does the bounce, 25# hoskie in the box. Pretty water, nice chop but..... the current is ripping! Couple more short strikes on the planer and about 10:00 here he comes on the teaser line, swish swash drop bite nothing OODdrop again, feel him but gone . Jim drops the lt long, nip nip and gone, SHIT!!!! Drug for over an hour and I new it was done for a while, figured 12:30 !:00. I went up to the bridge to talk to Tim, asked what time it was he said 12:30. We are watching off the back and see both long riggers doing the funcky chicken and we both run back, one of the crew was playing string guitar. I look over at the planer and it was straight out pulling drag, GOOD GOD this is the one! I jumped off the bridge hollering MOVE I'M COMING! and plowed him to the side as he was trying to get out of the way. I back the drag and he starts ripping. Good fish here. When we got him to the boat and I stuck him he shot fwd like a rocket and would have jumped in the boat if I didn't have rods in the way. A nice little 40# hooskie. I used the planer to stop him from beating the hell out of my legs and biting the crew with a few taps on the head, NOTE TO SELF, don't do that. I guess i bent it so it wouldn't trip after that. So when I wanted to check the bait we had to stop so I could crank it in. After the 2nd time of doing this we took off and I checked the teaser lines, I saw them waffeling in the breeze WTF. pulled them in and #8 piano wire sliced clean and didn't pop the rigger clip. How the hell did that happen. I mean clean cut through wire, I've never had that happen. I've had the loop break or the hay wire but not a clean cut and not pop the pin. Heard Marty got into the Black fins and another boat had a hand full of black fins and a hoo in the same area but we couldn't get them to chew, but we were on the hoos and I'd rather have them anyway since the YFT's weren't going to play. I went back up to the bridge to ask Tim something and boing boing the planer does it's thing. nice 25#'r in the box! We didn't have the action as we did yesterday but the out come was better! New boat new captn, who is great and we're GELLIN LIKE A FELLIN! Got a feeling this is going to be the begging of a beautiful thing. No We didn't fill the box today................ but just wait and watch!!!!
Marty has a little footage of the end of the day, hope he puts it up. Tim has some pics coming too. I had a ball today with a great crew, the best deer jerky I've ever had and a few fish with everyone happy, it just don't get better than that!!
Marty, can I have Bacon on that cheese burger You know I owe it all to you!!!!
What a great two days on the water. Thought I would add some pics I took of the first two days on the new Fishin' Days. I want to say thanks to all the guys that joined is for two days of fishing. 3 to 4 knots of current made it tough conditions, but thankfully we caught a few fish both days and had happy people at the end of the day. Look forward to many more days of fishing this year. Come on down and join RIck and I this year fishing. Right now we are looking for two more guys for this coming Sat. Block, what a great two days with you man. Can't wait for the rest of the season, and I promise to get you a billy bat for your birthday.
