Box

OK I know this isn't box type fish ... not a giant tuna or a billfish but I figured you like hard core and to me this is some hardcore fighting. I posted in where it belonged in the jigging section but thought I would bring it to your world for review.

120 plus pounds of Amberjack fury jigged up from 350' deep of Wilmington NC. Hardcore style. Not many caught this size. If you ever caught one even a small one you know how they fight. Well this baby fought like hell all on hardcore jigging setup using 30#'s of drag the whole time

Taped out at over 63 fork and over 70" total with a fat 37 girth and a head that was from my knee to my foot enjoy

I will let the pictures and video do the talking ...

here is the last 6 minutes of video as well that my friend took with his camera

Wow..!!!

I've caught a few small amberjacks and each time I thought it was something much bigger than it turned out to be. THAT however is a monster...!!! It must have been quite a ride! Congratulations!

Thanks La Gringa, that was the best out of about 20 I caught that day and 30 in the weekend all in the 40-80 pound range. Its actually a world class fishery for the big ones. Only one other place beats Wilmington NC ... the Canary Islands

I knew it wasnt your thing but I was hopin' you would appreciate the battle it put on

This is a short stout 4'8" jigging rod that is made to beat huge fish and it was bent like a pretzel by this beast

HOLY HEE HAW GMAN. My back hurts looking at that donkey. I love the pics and the story behind it. Way to put the time in and get it done.

Excuse me while I say a little prayer....
"Paleeese Lord don't let one of those things attack anything tied to the end of my line"...
OK, I'm back.

Congrats on a true trophy!

Put a saddle on that donkey and ride him on the Kentucky derby A hard core catch indeed. Great video and pictures of a very special fish.
