If you've got the hands, why not try a big bowling pin off one corner cleat and a daisy chain on the other side. You'll have both a big teaser for big fish and a multiple teaser for species that prefer that type of teaser. If you see a lot of action either on the daisy chain or the baits near the chain, think about changing the pin out to another daisy chain. I'd have a couple of different chains - pink/amber squid, rubber bally, maybe a chain of rubber flying fish too - and switch them out according to bait you're seeing in the area or simply what the fish seem to prefer. This is for general fishing, if targeting blue marlin, especially bigger ones, the simpler the spread you can pull and still feel confident raising fish, the better.
We always have an assortment of teasers onboard, you never know what you might need until something shows up and you wish you had the right teaser, rig, spreader bar, etc.
We are definitely not lacking in the tackle department, only in the amount of storage space to keep it all....
We plan our trips in advance and make adjustments as needed...
I went to Bass Pro to check out their boone pin teasers and they are no where near the quality of the pins I bought from Anthony at Princess Anne Distributers... The finish is poor, the pins are already all scratched up and the nose connectors are flimsy. Yes they are a little cheaper, but not much..
I THOUGHT THEY SOLD LU LU'S. ATLEAST THAT IS WHAT THE MAGAZINE I GOT SAID. THEY LOOK AND FEEL IDENTICLE TO THE PLAYACTION WICH SELL FOR 50 A PIECE. HUH.... I WONDER IF THEY WERE OVERSTOCK OR DAMAGED.
I didn't pay $50 for my pins I paid a lot less.... Bass Pro's are Boone's, not the same quality...
Mine are made by Play Action Teasers and are very well made...
I am going back to pick up a couple of different colors to play with too (red/black, mahi green/yellow/blue, etc.) as well as 1 more bonita colored for a spare.
