    Bottom trip 7/26 MHC

Had a couple friends do a 18hr. charter out of MHC Fri. and absolutely hammered the fish, reds, snowys and anything else on the bottom. So I fished with Chip/ aka/ E40 aboard my little rig yesterday, absolutely beautiful heading out. Couple more friends caught up with us at my first #'s, a few decent triggers and small trash fish on this spot. Ran to anoher spot and snagged a few more triggers then the sharks showed up. Our companion boat had a member not fairing too well so they worked back to some closer #'s. We headed off to the deeper stuff to looks for the Reds. Headed up north of the BR and checked a couple spots but nothing but more trash fish. Worked our way back down the break 20-50fthms. of water, with only 1 good bite. Finally had some good marks in 30ftms. first drop Chip gets a very nice Pinkie, then I get a fish he called a squirrel fish, about 12in. long, bright orange and eyes the size on a quarter. I found out very quickly that they have a nasty set of top fins. Picked away at them to get 4 more Pinkies, a knobbed porgy. Snagged a mahi around 8-10lb. that came in lit up in camo pattern, first time I've seen this display. Chip flipped the squid laced weenie out and iced down ride to MHC!

Hit some spots around 302 which sucked, decided to head in and chunked the remaining bait. Had several shrks and AJ's show up when Chip says whats that? I looked down and around 20ft or so down theres either a monster king or a nice hoo swimming along with the boat. We scrambled to get a jig, top plug anything to keep it around the boat until I could get some wire out. As fast as it appeared it was gone

Nice trip in pretty slick, talked to several boats around the NE corner and sounds like to was slow for the trollers, congrats to OffshoreIII, sounds like Buddy got wrapped up by a gang of sails around the A. Tanker, 3 for 5!!!

Pretty work there Roger. You and Chip are getting that bottom bouncing thing down. Got to have another plan of attack when the troll is slow. Right on man.
