Bottom Fishermen...Check this video out

[BOTTOM DWELLER]

Great video footage of some "bottom dwellers" off the Carolina Coast. This is from some researchers who are showing the "benefits" of using video versus "dock sampling" for fisheries management. I'm not posting this to debate whether or not this will hurt or help us rec/comm fishermen, I'm posting this so those interested in bottom fishing will have a better perspective of what it looks like when they are targeting these fish.

NO NUMBERS !!!! Diving is one of those things I'm always gonna do "one of these day's". Never been, really need to learn and do it! Did some snorkling in the Key's that was cool, but not diving. I've heard the story's the divers talk, got to be be beautiful. Frank

Seapower ... totally agree. I am so intrigued with the underworld. Every time I see a video like this or the ones that the free-divers post on this site ... I re-committ to getting out there and learning how to do it.

Great video and a very interesting concept.

My first thoughts were that the FP Tower area is about the heaviest fished area south of the 14 Bouy... Not many "secret" numbers within site of the tower... I'm not sure that sampling that area alone gives a scientific sampling of the condition of the Southeast Grouper fishery...

The other thing that came to mind is that the divers and cameras are in pretty shallow water - Again - I question the scientific accuracy of the sample...

First, great find Keith...loved the music

Not trying to stir the pot, but do you think there numbers are low for 57 dives. Now I feel the Scamps are kind of close as from the looks of the locations, I don't think any location was deeper that 120'.

I also noticed the most locations were to the south of the tower and I fee that the better bottom is to the north, but what do I know.

From the video that I have seen form some of you that dive, the numbers look higher that what they are reporting. Do you know what time of year that they filmed this and did the study?
