Best two months of the year to dive N.C. are June and October .These two months mark a seasonal transistion which, generally, leaves us with calm seas and clear water. We found such conditions today 38 miles out in 110' of water. Beautiful clear blue water, no thermocline, and a balmy 80 degrees from the surface to the bottom. Happy to report that although we didn't get into the Red and Scamp groupers like I had hoped, we were pleased to put some rather nice size Gags in the cooler. We managed one Red, a few "larger than normal" Hogfish and a half dozen lobsters. Here's a pic of my and Henry's first dive. Not too bad considering we spent the first half of our dive chasing Lobsters until the Gag's got in the way. Changed strategy real quick and put these 4 nice fish on the stringer. Next dive we got a lobster apiece.
I hope to post some more pic's as I get them in. We had a great crew today that resulted in a nice cooler full of fish.
Tomorrow its off with Rod and Reels to take advantage of this beautiful October weather.
Go Get'um!
