    Bottom Bouncing MHC 12/4

Another small weather window had me itching to go out and do some bottom fishing on Sat. Checked around and had no problem putting together a crew. Even with the N-NE winds I thought that it would be okay to take Daniel as well. The crew for today was Me, Daniel, Doug, Mike and Lee we broke the inlet at about 0600 with the plan on going about 30 miles to see if we could put some Gags and BSB’s in the boat. It was a little on the chilly side, but we were dressed for it so it wasn’t too bad. We passed the blue fin fleet on the way out even though we were 5-6 miles to their west we marked a ton of bait on the way out. After about 15 miles it got pretty choppy (as expected with the wind) it was actually a little rough on my first mate Daniel, however he did manage to hang in there for the day.

First stop was to sabki some bait and after getting a day’s worth of cigar minnows it was time to put some meat in the box. On our fishing first stop we put our 5 man limit of Gags on, the cool part was everyone caught one. The way we worked it if you caught one then you went back to the BSB so everyone had a chance to get their own Gag. I did have to wake Daniel up when it was his turn since he didn’t feel too well and was napping on the front of the boat. After that though he was pretty much back on his game. We also caught a few BSB’s as well as a couple of ARS (released) and a handful of Beeliners (released). The next stop we put a good mess of BSB’s aboard and called it a day back to the dock around 2:00.

On the way in we spotted a couple of whales with a huge school of porpoises so we watched and videoed them for a while. It was hard to get really good video since we kept a good distance from them. Final tally was 5 Gags 30 BSB’s with many more released, and the normal fare of other bottom dwellers all released. For some reason we didn't get a picture of Lee's Gag.

Another good day on the water with family and friends. Now back to watching the weather for the next window that will allow the next adventure on the water.

Awesome! Sounds like a great day on the water. I hope to get down for a day or two before Christmas and do some of the same.

Good talking to guys as well.

That dredge really through me for a loop we were very close to having a real bad day when I finally figured it out. Hearing you guys talking to him and seeing you helped us out.

That is one hell of a nice ride you have hope you put some bluefin blood on it this year.
