Bonitos........

Went to NRI on Sat........we only landed 2 Bonitos & 1 Blue that was 33" long by 18" round (pix to follow) - all on jigs.
The fish were busting all over the place, greyhounding out of the water, sometimes right under the boat - man it was a thrill to watch. They would not bite any jigs we throw at them.........( tried 5 different jigs myself - others switched out 4 times)

My buddy trolled Yozuri DD all morning & have mostly double hook ups - landed 14 Bonitos & 2 large Blues........

Heard reports of BlueFin in the area as well 35# BlackFin caught last week....

We went out on 2 boats........on the one I was on, we had three anglers that wanted to catch fish using jigs & a fly rod.

We had Max - the 6' 10" / size 16 shoe ( he's really proud of that ) / former chef / exbouncer / current writer, who never caught a Bonito on light tackle.........
Our goal was to make sure a 6'10" exbouncer caught fish & he did have succes early with jigs (first 2 Bonitos & small Blues). Running & gunning style of fishing......

The other boat "The Second Chance" with 2 anglers wanted to troll
without the pressure of upsetting a former exbouncer (did I mention his size 16 foot?) - they had way more success then us, but we had alot more fun..........
I mean how often do you get to fish with a published writer, with a penetrating wit, overactive imagination & blood lust for catching fish.......
I mean this in a good way!..............ICM
