    Franky,
Good wake up call. It always seems to take someone elses misfourtune to teach others a lesson in life. Personally I can tell you dont ever take more steps backward than what you took forward on the roof of a two story building!
Get my drift, hurt like hell for many years! LOL Our prayers are with your friend.

    Very interesting coincidence...

Got an email today from Boat US looking for any surveyor interested in handling a damage claim to a vessel in Trinidad. Extensive structural damage....sling broke and boat fell. Thankfully no one was injured.

Good...no,no great post here Franky. I can tell you I have spent many an hour underneath a slinged boat hanging from a lift or even worse yet slinged on the forks of a Fork Truck. DANGEROUS TERRITORY PEOPLE!!! I always would run at least one spotter while lifting and slinging boats.
Another safety precaution that can buy you that everlasting minute to get out from under a boat is to tie the slings together to keep them from slipping apart as well as a line to the bow eye to control of unwanted swinging. Jack stands should always be used even when putting a boat on a work rack and these stands should be tied together as well. I have spent to many hours slinging boats to dollies for shows and racks for work and seen many a near miss.

Thanks for bringin this out in the open Franky and I wish and pray for the recovery of your bud.

    wake up....

i see guys doing this all the time... man, your buddy needs to play the lottery-one lucky guy!!!
another thing i see constantly is the improper position of blocking....using cinder blocks with the openings on the sides is incorrect-no strength, the openings need to be up,not on the sides...i've seen these blocks break from just putting them down....
on a different site,i actually seen someone's grady white sitting on 55gallon drums-i swear to god,i seen the picture.....don't let common sense get in your way...
