i did film a little Saturday night during the LSU game. just to see what it would do. managed to play back on the big screen through a HDMI cable. actually the TV had stopped seeing the HDMI output from the cable box. so we figured out it is the box and not the TV.

best buy had the one i bought and one other. forgot the number but it was about 300 more i figured this one could do more than i needed anyway.

i bought it for videoing 3 things:
1. my youngest son playing baseball to make a highlight
disk to send to colleges
2. a little deer hunting and fishing
3. video of the Catcher's Mitt in use to put on the soon to be website.

i think the hv20 will be able to do all those easily.

The wide angle will give you about 25% more cockpit coverage without distortion. I have tried a few but the
Raynox 52mm 0.66x Wide Angle Conversion Lens seems to be the ticket....Mark
i misspoke. my new camera is an hf20. it takes awesome video. im just having trouble with saving and editing. there is a learning curve to it for sure.

there are a lot of cool things about this camera. but i'm still not convinced to keep it or get an Hv**. it shoots in avchd which is different from the hv models.

Thanks for the input guys, really is appreciated. I'm pretty much out of the tech loop. Much better at making things bleed! I am right now in the process of having all of my 8mm film transfered to cd-rom. Now correct me if I'm wrong but once this is done I can then upload to my pc and then start my editing and music overlay, correct? After that how do I upload to SFC? I know, it's like taking a baby by the hand at this point but I'm a really fast learner!!

The HV40 will shoot avchd. The HV40 is the newest model of this series.

After you put the video on disk you can edit with the software of choice....I have had troubles loading Wide screen format here but standard screen size should be no problem. I would contact the Admin. for advice.... Mark
