Bluefin Tuna going on "The list"!?!?

Watching the evening news tonite. I know that they sensationalize, but this hit home! They were talking about the spill in the gulf and they commented specifically about the effects on animal life. First on the list was the Bluefin. It was commented that they are thinking about putting bluefin tuna on the endangered species list.

I hope that it doesn't happen and that they get the damn thing plugged asap and there isn't a need to do it.

What do you guys think? If a Tuna swims into bad water, wouldn't it just turn around and get out of it? My feeling is that these fish are smart and will modify their breeding patterns to work around the spill.

Typical response - Put them on the ESA without a bit of science to back it up...

I'm sure some BFTs will be dumb enough to get in the oil, but the smart/strong ones will survive - Darwin at work...

And if their breeding area is bad, they will move to another spot and breed.

I guess where the problem arises is if the eggs are released and fertilized and drift into a dead zone, they are dead.
