Blackfish and bass

Headed out in foggy conditions for one of the last trips of the year. Ran to the reef and set up for some blackfish. We made two drops and had a few fish in the box when somebody turned the fan on high.... The bite slowed and it was slack tide so we decided to head for the barn. On our way in we came upon a bunch of working birds all to ourselves. We played with the blues and bass for awhile and pounded our way back home. We got our asses kicked but were able to get some meat for the box.

Could be the last trip of the year if the forcast doesn't change for tomorrow.

BLACK BASS JUST OPENED BACK UP HERE YESTERDAY.....AND THE BOTTOM IS LINED WITH 4-5 LBERS....I HAVE GUYS SAY THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT!

Most were a little bigger then the one in the picture. We had one nice size fish around 20-25 lbs but lost it at the boat. There have been a lot of 20-25 lb fish caught up here in the last month from what I hear (been bottom fishing for the last 6 weeks)

It's like cult up here Marty. I must admit that I have become a little addicted myself, sitting and waiting thru the little pecks from the bergals and porgies waiting for the tell tale THUMP! Then WAAM! Swinging for the fence... (i usually miss ) A good "black bass" fishermen can out fish a rookie 5-1.... I'm somewhere in the middle... not good, not a rookie.
